Monday, May 15

USA to VIENNA

The MESSIAH COLLEGE CONCERT CHOIR departs from Washington Dulles International Airport ( IAD) on direct non-stop Austrian Airlines flight OS 94.

 

Tuesday, May 16

VIENNA

8.40 am

Arrive at Vienna airport
The MESSIAH COLLEGE CONCERT CHOIR will be met at Vienna International airport by your professional English-speaking tour guide Mr. Fritz Doppelhofer (cell phone +43 664 6381721) , your driver and Christian Bender, Managing Director of Concerts-Austria.
Transfer by deluxe air-conditioned motor coach to your hotel. Vienna orientation tour en-route.
Lunch on your own in the city-center. (time to change money)

2.15 pm

Board bus and depart for hotel

3.00 pm

Check-into hotel
Afternoon at leisure; time to rest (recommended time: no longer than 2 hours, this will ensure that participants will adjust to Central European time and overcome jet lag quickly.)

6.00 pm

Welcome dinner at hotel and briefing with your guide

7.00 pm

Transfer to the outstanding "House of Music" to experience the following attractions:
*The Great Masters of Viennese music tradition: Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss.

Wednesday, May 17

Start your guided city tour of Vienna

visit Schoenbrunn Palace. (entrance included)

Continue your guided city tour of Vienna with Ring Avenue, the Hofburg Palace, the Opera House, St. Stephen's Cathedral, Mozart 's "Figaro House", City Hall and visit the Central Cemetery (honorary tombs of famous composers like Beethoven, Gluck, Schubert, Johann Strauss Father and Son, Lanner and Brahms).

6.00 pm

Dinner at local restaurant Wieselburger at Prater, the oldest amusement-park in the world with its famous ferris wheel and plenty of other attractions.

9.00 pm

Thursday, May 18

VIENNA

Transfer to the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna

10.00 am

Start seminar/workshop conducted by a Member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
Topics include: "Vienna a Center of Music in the World", "Music History in Vienna" and "Focus on the 250th Birthday of Mozart", "Perspectives of a Professinal Musician". (time permitting).

11.30 am

End of seminar/workshop
Lunch on your own.

12.30 pm

Transfer back to hotel (pick up concert attire and music)

Depart for the province Burgenland and the evening concert in
Bad Tatzmannsdorf
Arrive in Rohrau - see the birthplace of the world-famous composers Joseph and Michael Haydn, the Haydn Museum. Then continue to Eisenstadt - where Joseph Haydn lived for 30 years. Eisenstadt is the capital as well as the cultural and educational center of the province of Burgenland. This charming Baroque town - its buildings influenced by the Prince Esterhazy dynasty - is Austria's smallest and youngest provincial capital. Eisenstadt had its heyday in the 18th century when it was ruled by Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy.
See the Esterhazy Palace where Haydn conducted the court orchestra almost every evening, stop at Raiding, the birthplace of Franz Liszt and then, continue south to Bad Tatzmannsdorf

The choir will be officially welcomed by a city representative and introduced to the audience.

Lunch on your own on board of MS Austria

Visit the Benedictine Abbey Melk (entrance and guided visit included)
continue to Salzburg
Arrive in Salzburg in the late afternoon. Check into hotel
